Special Seasonal Worship Services

Holy Week Services

All three services begin at 6:30 PM

Service of Symbols and Song~ Wednesday evening

This is a service lasting about 45 minutes, designed for telling again the story of Holy Week-- for us and our school-age children.
Child care available for preschool children and infants.

          Maundy Thursday Communion Service

A traditional service in remembrance of the Last Supper, it is designed to include children.

          Good Friday Tenebrae Service

This is a service beautiful in its simplicity.  It begins in the light with word and singing. It ends in darkness and silence.
Most of the service consists of scripture readings from the passages that tell of Christ's arrest, trial and passion.
Candles, representing Jesus' disciples, are extinguished as the story unfolds.
Both school-age children and adults appreciate and understand the solemn mood as well as the shift from light to darkness.

      Advent and Christmas Services

Hanging of the Greens - first Sunday of Advent

The wreaths, greenery, and holly hung in our sanctuary for the season of Advent and Christmas has symbolic meaning.                    The symbolism is explained through scripture passages and short narrations at the beginning of the service, as the sanctuary is literally decorated.  Come and join us for this first Sunday of Advent.

Christmas Choir cantata --  December

Christmas Eve Candle-lighting Service -- 6:00 PM

This is a service for all ages, with the Christmas story told in scripture lessons and carols sung by the congregation.  Holy Communion leads into the practice of lighting everyone's candle from the Christ candle.  It is a beautifully simple and joyous celebration.

Lenten Service

Ash Wednesday

  Imposition of Ashes offered

This thirty minute service reminds us that we are finite beings, and that life is a gift not to be taken for granted.  This service allows us to begin the season of Lent by reflecting on our lives, our priorities, and our relationship with Christ and with one another.
