Church Garden

   The Growth Continues!

     2018 Garden features  ---

         70 tomato plants

        12 rows of green beans

        Strawberries & Blackberries

        4 beds of cucumbers

        A small melon patch

        Hot peppers & a large area of sweet potatoes

Why do we have garden plots on the church lawn?

  1. To make good use of the fertile soil that exists on our front lawn;
  2. To grow good food for local consumption, for our church members and for the community;
  3. To get to know each other better -- working together to produce something good;
  4. To care for the earth God has given us -- by learning and sharing best practices which conserve water and build up intergity of the soil.

 How is the produce from these plots used?
  1. Meals at our special summer Wednesdays ,
  2. Fresh produce for our Summer Food Program -- weekly food assistance for families in our neighborhood
  3. Fresh produce (summer)  and sweet potatoes (winter) for those who use our small food pantry
  4. Small amounts of tomatoes and berries are given to our own homebound folks
