         75 tomato plants

        12 rows of green beans

Why do we have garden plots on the church lawn?

  1. To make good use of the fertile soil that exists on our front lawn;
  2. To grow good food for local consumption, for our church members and for the community;
  3. To get to know each other better -- working together to produce something good;
  4. To care for the earth God has given us -- by learning and sharing best practices which conserve water, minimize herbicide and fertilizer use.

 How is the produce from these plots has been used?
  1. Meals at our special summer Wednesdays ,
  2. Given to those folks in our neighborhood in need of food supplements through our Summer Food Program,
  3. Given to families who request help from our food  pantry,
  4. Small amounts are given to our own homebound folks
